American School of Classical Studies at Athens

I encountered it in 2011 and 2012.

I was a visiting professor at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, and I was teaching a seminar to the graduate students there on the history of Byzantine museums in Greece.

And it was a great bunch of students.

It was really a memorable experience altogether.

So there's a real institution, the American School for Classical Studies, which had been in Athens, funded with American money since the late 1800s.

But in 1949, they just started back up their excavations, especially the most important excavation in the Agora, because late 1949 is when the Greek Civil War ended.

So Cleo in the whole book, you know, still feeling the scars of the post-World War II period, but Greece never stopped having war until the year, you know, that this book starts, 1949.
