yeah no i i have so many follow-ups like how long did it take after i mean so maybe this might be going back to your research when you initially found you know with with the lead in the gas how long did it take after your findings for them led to be then removed from from most gas like was this almost like an overnight like hey we need to get rid of this like it's gone or is this like a like a slow process to find other mixes to

yeah well it turns out that um The major paper that we wrote was the American Public Health Journal of the American Public Health.

It was published in 1983.

Couldn't get it published at first.

People kept rejecting it.

But finally, the Journal of the American Public Health Association published the paper and basically what the paper showed was that the amount of lead in the environment is related to automobile traffic and the amount of lead showing up in the environment needed to be paid attention to.

Well, that was 1983.

By 1984, the legislature in Minnesota got interested in the problem.

So the separation of maternal child health and abortion, I did a lot of work trying to bring those two factions together, and it was a retrofit.

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Section of the American Public Health Association existed solely for the fact that there were a lot of federal workers who wanted to be a member of the professional organization, but because of Hyde and Helms, no federal dollars will be used for abortion, they couldn't be in the same section, the same voting section of a professional organization.

And for decades, people let that happen.

When I came in as the chair, I wanted to merge the sections, and the very author of that article at that time was the Maternal and Child Health section chair.
