American Pop

No, no, no.

There was one, like, originally Ralph Bakshi, who did Fritz the Cat and does American Pop and is one of my favorite independent animators of all time.

He had the film rights, and he was going to direct Grease to this

film.

And then...

Over time, with the help of actor Bill Whedon and other filmmaker and friend Kurt Markham, we've made the short script into a feature film, feature script, I should say.

And the reason it took six years is just trying to find financers and backers And we found we got a little luck with some crowdfunding sites like Indiegogo and so forth, but we didn't really get as much money as we needed.

So finally, in 2023, um when we had our actors secured our main actor with down syndrome we said well my mom and i just said we'll just finance the film ourselves with our own money and we can't keep letting people down so we did that and uh basically the film in a nutshell, is about a guy with Down syndrome who's like an action hero like Rambo who saves the day from the villain of the film, President Kruger, who has put all people with disabilities back in institutions and turned the country into a dictatorship.

So we had to recast because having a union actor in your film changes everything, right? It changes your budget.

It changes all the things that you have to do because they have regulations and stipulations about how you're supposed to deal with everything and everybody and the pain.

I understand why it's there, but for small filmmakers, independent filmmakers, it can be tough.

Mm-hmm.
