CaraHOST

What are schools using to track or grade student performance in the clinic? When I was in school and being in Texas, Texas has its own notebook, it's called the PT Max, that we would use, but I know that there are a couple of other...
CaraHOST
7:10
And I think APTA has one.
CaraHOST
7:12
So I'd be curious to know what AOTA and, and schools around you, Romy, use, because some of that also factored into what rotations students are going on, because we had to get things checked off in order to graduate.
Romina AstifidisGUEST
7:28
For physical therapy, they're all using the CPI, which is APTA's product, at least around here.
Romina AstifidisGUEST
7:33
And then I think it must be part of the accreditation requirements.
Romina AstifidisGUEST
7:36

Romina AstifidisGUEST
18:52
That's one of the nice things about part of a large organization, and I have a team, and we've actually sat down and created things for our students that will help them if they're struggling, as well as using the school resources, and that would be the second thing.
Romina AstifidisGUEST
19:03
I would say involve the school quickly.

Rachel WileyGUEST
16:33
for reviewing all of them.
Rachel WileyGUEST
16:35
I think that, you know, I'll start with the gratitude portion, which is I am grateful to AOTA, APTA, ASHA for their collective advocacy for caregiver training codes.
Rachel WileyGUEST
16:49
I do think it was a step forward.
Rachel WileyGUEST
16:51
theoretically, a step in the right direction for acknowledging the importance of caregiver training in providing good outcomes for our patients.
Karen LitzyHOST
26:35
So I do volunteer.
Karen LitzyHOST
26:38
I volunteer within the American Physical Therapy Association to help give back to my profession that has given me so much.
Karen LitzyHOST
26:47
And I volunteer at an animal shelter because I love animals.
Karen LitzyHOST
26:54
And so that's something that makes me happy.
Helen CareyGUEST
6:34

Helen CareyGUEST
6:38

ethics.

SheilaHOST
9:15
And it almost looks like a folder on the side of the web browser where you can see all of the source material.
SheilaHOST
9:22
So you could upload a couple APTA fact sheets, or you could upload the CPG of something and have that kind of in there.
SheilaHOST
9:30
Maybe like it's a torticollis notebook LM, right? And you're uploading all the CPG and all of the information that you have from it And then it can kind of combine and contrast and use all of those different source materials to kind of create like a study partner.
RoniHOST
37:04
But But I'm bringing this up because in a couple of weeks, I'm going to Seattle for the first time I've ever been.
RoniHOST
37:10
And I'm doing a speech for their APTA talking about the next 100 years of PT and where we think it's going, because it's changed a lot in 100 years.
RoniHOST
37:21
Like what PT was back in 1926.
RoniHOST
37:23
I don't even know.
Shannon DavisGUEST
39:02
That's, I think, where, you know, the difference is, is that it does open a lot of doors to have these dynamic opportunities, but that's not going to come from necessarily the PT profession.
Shannon DavisGUEST
39:14
It's going to become from the physical therapists that are already in the field and take it there.
Shannon DavisGUEST
39:18
And so I think that's where the journey is a little bit different versus, you know, 50 years ago, it was the APTA and the organization and stuff.
Shannon DavisGUEST
39:26
That was the leadership and it still is the leadership, but that was the educational leadership, right? In the more traditional settings that people know of with the hospital and the outpatient.

Vanessa ReynoldsGUEST
19:55
APTA is so chill.
Vanessa ReynoldsGUEST
19:58
They don't care.
Vanessa ReynoldsGUEST
20:00
They don't do what ASHA and AOTA does.
Vanessa ReynoldsGUEST
20:02
That tracks.
Vanessa ReynoldsGUEST
20:04
Yeah, like we have an actual process and we approve, like APTA doesn't have what ASHA and AOTA do.
Vanessa ReynoldsGUEST
20:10
Just like whatever singing
Chad GarreauHOST
13:22
So, yeah, I
Rebecca CallaisGUEST
13:23
mean, treat holistically in vestibular rehab because i've heard of some patients will say yeah i've had vestibular rehab but they didn't feel comfortable treating my neck or um so treating these clients holistically really is key working on the vestibular function working on central hypersensitivities and really listening to the functional things that they're having trouble with and using our skills and activity analysis and figure out okay what can we do to maybe change the occupation that they're doing to make it a little bit easier or the environment in which they're doing it? Because in our, in vestibular rehab, we have these wonderful, APTA has this wonderful clinical practice guideline, which a lot of therapists rely heavily on.
