Physical scale does something that a number can't.

There's a line from someone who toured a nuclear plant through an American Nuclear Society chapter that I keep thinking about.

He said it's easy to talk about a gigawatt of power, but to actually feel it screaming past you in the turbine hall really opens your eyes to the immense scale of the electrical infrastructure we've built to power our civilization.

Screaming past you.

See, on June 16th of 2026, Helion Energy got two licenses for a fusion power plant in Malaga, Washington.

And according to the company and the American Nuclear Society, those are the first licenses in the world for a fusion power plant.

They came from the Washington State Department of Health, not the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a state health department.

There are four fusion power contracts on Earth.

So that's all for our main stories today, but before you go, we do have a bonus riding hot on the heels of our final story.

For our bonus, courtesy of the American Nuclear Society, the FIA has published a white paper guiding agreement states on fusion regulation.

Now, we saw in our fourth story today in Tennessee how licensing can really make or break a fusion plant and kind of decide where fusion plants are gonna be sited.

Now, this FIA paper aims to build on that success, guiding states on how to replicate it.

It's called the NACX meeting.

It was run by the Nuclear Energy Institute and the American Nuclear Society.

And there was a huge focus on workforce development and supply chain.

And both of those things have to be heavily addressed to get to where it's needed to produce this electricity.

And so it's very exciting to see it repurposed now for brand new reactors.

Other facilities, you might be aware, we recently had our Hot Fuels Examination Facility, or HFEF, designated an American Nuclear Society historical landmark.

That's a facility that was first commissioned in the 70s.

And now for more than 50 years has been our absolute workhorse for irradiated fuels and materials characterization.
