But so what we're looking at is saying, well, actually, we need to actually get people to look at what their data actually says, rather than just saying, ah, p is greater than 0.05, therefore there's no effect.
Richard LavenGUEST
25:01
And when I went to the ADSA meeting, the number of people who stood up and said, this is p greater than 0.05, therefore there is no effect, or statistical significance was set at p is less than 0.05, and they never really thought about anything else past that.
Richard LavenGUEST
25:17
And on top of that, people regularly say, statistical significance be less than 0.05 but a trend if it's less than 0.1 and that's a very rote statement and they clearly what happened was that they just said that statement and then treated everything at 0.1 as being important and i think the the issue isn't hopefully a with the paper this links back to some papers that say look p-value doesn't tell you importance it tells you something you don't really want to know because nobody ever does research to find out what the p-value is they do the research to find out what the effect is and that's really what we're talking about here is if we think about the effect, then we can get a lot better research and a lot better understanding and deal with the uncertainty.

This is the thing is that people say, ah, less than 0.5 is definitely important, greater than 0.05 is definitely not important.

Hopefully, we're starting moving the needle to fatty acids.

ADSA, we're going to have a presentation looking into how maybe we go about modeling fatty acids differently.
Jonas de SouzaGUEST
6:15
And considering maybe the different sources of fat, not different than what we did with amino acids, but we have to figure out what happened in the rumen first.
Jonas de SouzaGUEST

you know, account for, you know, okay, what truly is my microbial or my MP pool between your microbial and your bypass, not different than we should be doing with fatty acids.
