American Conservation Coalition

Like, okay, I believe in this.

What am I going to do? Who am I going to go talk to? Before organizations like CRESS or ClearPath or the American Conservation Coalition, There weren't a lot of places to go.

So this was like, okay, can we come in and give you more information? It's not just weather and it's not just coastal.

It's all across the United States.

I'm the chief economist at American Compass.

And we have a fantastic episode for you today talking climate change and the right with Chris Barnard, president of the American Conservation Coalition, and Taylor Myers, who is an attorney at Boyden Gray.

They have both written fantastic essays for Commonplace this past week on climate change.

Also had a really great essay from Joseph Majkut from CSIS on the science of climate change and want to just flag that this is now a real shift for us at Commonplace.

So to some degree, the film requires either just appreciating the sincerity of the characters and their approach to the issue, or having a base of knowledge that allows you to understand some of the structural implications that are revealed in the film, but maybe aren't discussed as much.

One thing, and you tell me whether this was purposeful or whether it was something I was projecting onto your film that I kind of admired was right from the get-go, for instance, we begin, we're in, I think we're in Miami at a rally of, I would imagine that Benji thought this is going to be like-minded folks who support the efforts of this organization called the American Conservative Coalition, or no, Conservation Coalition.

And there's like a couple of dozen people there.

And there's people on the periphery that are yelling at him, telling him he's a rhino and a globalist and so forth.

really try to make a difference.

I mean, something that I was blown away by that didn't know until I did research on you, but I didn't realize you founded the American conservation coalition when you were a freshman in college.

So when you were at the university of Washington, so now it makes sense hearing like middle school, you're starting to knock on doors and then your love for the environment.

But I mean, that'd be a lot of work.

And conservatives don't have to choose between being pro technology and protecting our communities.

The American Conservation Coalition, ACC as we call it, they've been talking about responsible data center planning, including protecting prime farmland.

So avoiding using prime farmland and doing it in places that make more sense.

So we're not getting rid of those places that are very needed for us to continue to have conservation.

That's the idea? So the scheme involves getting rid of failed tactics like ESG while manipulating the right through existing organizations.

He says, quote, we're putting a lot of resources into groups like ClearPath, the Evangelical Environmental Network, and the American Conservation Coalition.

Okay, so these are the groups that they are funding.

Funding from the Clean Break Fund comes from, do you want to take a guess? The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Bill Gates' Breakthrough Energy Fund, Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation as well.
