There's a thing called academic freedom, and this is something I had to deal with personally.

The AAUP, Smitty, is what it's called.

It's a standard that says faculty have considerable freedoms in how they discuss and teach material.

Okay.

It's called the AAUP.

I know this because I actually have been doing this a long time, Smitty, and I actually knew how to attack certain things with admin to say, no, no, no, no, no. Don't tell me your teacher is protected when he puts my fucking black running back in a corner facing the wall in 2016.

But yet I'm on a fucking walking on eggshells because I said, fuck.

And, and likewise, the Stanford Daily has a bunch of students who are here on student visas and want to write about issues inv- uh, involving Palestine and Israel, but, uh, fear the consequences of doing so.

And this is, uh, very s- it's similar in many ways to a case brought by the American Association of University Professors, uh, in, uh, New York, sorry, in Boston, uh, that were challenging the existence of a, what they allege was a, a policy of, uh, pursuing, uh, pro-Palestinian students on student visas, uh, in violation of the First Amendment.

This statu- this, uh, lawsuit challenges the specific statutes that the government used.

Uh, and the record was largely lifted from the AAUP case in Boston and also, uh, the stipulated facts by the parties.

We'll talk about this, right? Like how many people are on our campus? Like I know we always hear rough numbers for OSU, but like, you know, we'll figure that out.

How much of that is 20%? Like how many people do we have to get signatures for? What groups or orgs do we want? Do we know that are down with us? Like I know the AAUP, the AFTs, the like all of the cool labor unions and the Sunrise and the United Ohio Student Association, like in my case are down.

And then I got to think through what groups might be down, but I don't necessarily know them or talk to them, but they probably will be down with this if we bring it to them.

And then we're going to talk about moving the petition, right? Because we don't want to just tell you, here's this petition, it's going to work.

So obviously, moving forward, we will be having like more meetings that are just dedicated to like what you're doing in the breakout rooms with coaches, which is really exciting.

We have tons of different organizations here.

that are working hard together, including YDSA, AFT, AAUP.

I mean, I can, you know, name the list on for days, right? And we really do want to kick ICE off of campus.
