America Sings

I forget what the ride was called.

It was called like, it'll tell me, America Sings, yeah.

America Sings was this old room that was like, it was interesting.

It was like, you know, it's like when you put a bowl inside a bowl.

So you'd get inside this room and you'd be in this amphitheater and essentially you would go around the center.

So, yeah, horrible things.

Carousel of Progress is what I was thinking of.

Yeah, the building previously housed Carousel of Progress, which rotated counterclockwise, America Sings rotated clockwise, meaning turning the stage carried cast members directly towards the nearest wall away from them.

And, you know, it just started with stars and then they added the music and they've added special effects and all that stuff.

But, you know, there's, you know, it's, it's show, right? So, um, Um, I always loved space bound, but you know, my favorite attraction, and I believe like I've read my mom's diary from when I was a baby, the very first attraction I went on at Disneyland was in, uh, Tomorrowland and it was America sings.

And, uh, you know, Mark Davis, you know, you guys have listened to me before, uh, my biggest idol love that man.

And, you know, his character animation and, you know, personality driven, you know, work, you know, that he did, you know, with Maleficent, with the Pirates of the Caribbean, all that stuff made such an impact on me.

And, you know, America Sings was really just a fun attraction for a little kid.

Right.

And, you know, I think, you know, it's funny.

We would, you know, rope drop the park.

Debbie Gale Stone America Sings opened on June 29, 1974 in Tomorrowland.

This was a musical filled with animatronics and had a unique setup, where park visitors were seated in wedge-shaped sections arranged around a fixed central stage.

At intervals, the entire outer ring of audience sections rotated, moving from one scene to the next.

The space was not intended to be occupied while the theatre was in motion.

Deborah Debbie Gale Stone had begun working at Disneyland as a summer employee.

She was 18 years old from Santa Ana and worked as a hostess at America Sings.

Her role was public-facing, greeting park visitors on a microphone as they settled into the theater and helping create the welcoming tone Disney wanted at its newest attraction.

So it was only here for six years.

show with alicia stella is could they take our carousel of progress because there seems like they're replacing every scene could they take our carousel progress and put it back into the original building over there and i also joked about america sings because they shut down splash mountain and they could put those characters there but i don't think they're going to do either of those things that's just a hunch is that

Yeah.

So it was the Carousel of Progress was in that building.

And then it became the America Sings.

And then it was an interventions sort of a thing like we had at Epcot.

But it was like the House of Tomorrow.

We could do like that thing they did in Epcot, just like a nice little compact lounge.

And it would be the exact same thing, but we're not going to have America Sings ever again.

So let's get it out of here.

Let's put something new

in.

Or bring back America Sings.

That'd be fine, too.

It's, the infrastructure for it is all there and up to code from my knowledge and understanding.

Underutilized areas, former America Sings, Carousel of Progress, what's going on over there besides a DVC thing?

I was just gonna ask that.

Okay, so which by the way, I don't even think the DVC thing is open in there because when I was there a couple weeks ago, the DVC lounge inside that building was closed and they made like a new makeshift DVC lounge in our old Starcade near the exit-
