Let me see how he did this week.

And Ruben Bain got blanked by Amarius Mims.

Amarius Mims, massive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals.

I think coming out of school, we said he probably has the best frame ever for an offensive tackle between the arm length, the sheer size, the wingspan, the hand size, and just the way he carried his weight might be the best ever.

If you look at his spider chart, it's ridiculous.

And week one of 2026, he just blanked Reuben Bain, who was the, you know, the pro ready explosive day one guy at pass rusher that everyone said, yeah, well, you know, he doesn't have the long arms, but he doesn't, he doesn't have the frame or whatever else.

But this dude is just football player through and through day one, you step on the field and he's that guy.

And he was not that guy against Amarius Mims, right? At the same time, Cassius Howell, okay? Another short-armed edge rusher.

Yes.

Amarius Mims is... on the cusp of, of

superstardom, I think.

I think he needs to, obviously this season will

in Cincinnati but it still feels like there's this national narrative about the bangles offensive line that's out there that's incorrect and i said how does this offensive line go about getting respect and dylan fairchild said you have to do it consistently over a longer period of time than what they've done to completely change that narrative It was a great performance in week one.

In fact, in a game where Zach Taylor, I think, gave out nine or ten game balls, including one on Monday, the day after the game to Dexter Lawrence, I think Amarius Mims deserves a game ball for his performance in week one against Reuben Bain.

But how does that look forward to what's coming up on Sunday against the Houston Texans and the two most vaunted duo linemen defensive edges that the Bengals will face in the NFL this season when they see Daniil Hunter and Will Anderson? That'll test it, right? We all think that the Bengals graded out well for how they performed as an offensive line in the season opener against Tampa Bay.

A defensive line that has Vita Veya, drafted Reuben Bain, went out and got free agents to try to make themselves better at getting to the quarterback.

I watched the Houston Buffalo game earlier this week and went back and watched the tape, and this is a defense that, to me, as I said on Lockdown Bengals in our game preview yesterday, feels like it matches up well with Joe Burrow's strengths.

if, and this is a big caveat this week, if the Bengals can go out there and protect against what should be one of the better pass rushes in the NFL.

We also thought that about Tampa there was so much hype around that Tampa defensive line in week one and then kind of after the fact you saw as you see with these narratives that tend to shift and the goal posts often move right when you're talking about the Bengals in the offensive line Reuben Bain was a rookie that was the worst matchup he could have had with the five inches of arm length that he gives up to Amarius Mims meanwhile in the preseason it was nothing but hype for Reuben Bain and Vita Vea had a pretty quiet day as well.

And so different kind of challenge this week, different approach from the Texans defense.

I didn't love him as a prospect.

You would have taken Mims, right? Mims is way better to me.

And he's been really

good.

Somebody in the division I think is good.

I'm not allowed to do that, apparently.

One of my new crushes, Amarius Mims.

I just mentioned him a few minutes ago.

And the Bengals offensive line last week looked phenomenal.

Amarius Mims looks like he might be prime for a breakout superstar season here.

Put our guy Ruben Bain in a little box last week, which was tough to watch.

Hoping for a big bounce back week for my guy Bain tonight.

He's just an absolute tank out there.

Um, he's, uh, like an outlier of size where there's only so many human beings built like him on the planet.

And I genuinely enjoy watching Amarius Mims play.

There's times when I turn on the Bengals tape and it's just, let's just watch Amarius Mims put somebody in hell.

But I still think it's going to take maybe half a season of that kind of thing for people to start nationally noticing.

What about individually? A player like Amarius Mims, who looked so great against Bain, if he can carry that into this week against players like Anderson and Daniil Hunter, where can he go on a national scale right now?

Yeah, that'll be really interesting because that, again, is one of those things where they just got pro bowls, all pros, those kind of things that they just lean on the guys that they know.

And he's a first-round pick, and he's played really well.

But I still think it's going to take Maybe half a season of that kind of thing for people to start nationally noticing.

And so I feel like the Bengals have a lot on offense.

But I feel like Amarius Mims can handle whatever he gets – On his side.

I don't know if Zeus can do the same thing on his side.

Whoever they have, Will Anderson, I think that's going to be tough.
