The Cooper Arms building in Long Beach, California, is a beautiful 12-story apartment tower built in 1923.

It's known to be haunted, with people reporting hearing voices, mysterious footsteps, and feeling cold spots.

But in August of 1935, it was also the site of a murder that shocked the city.

Gladys Fair's body was found draped over the edge of her bathtub, as though it had been carelessly discarded.

Investigators quickly determined that she had not died there.

The murderer had dragged her body across a distance and attempted to wash the blood from her head, but something had interrupted the effort.
