Amanat

Everyone was expecting Adilet to cruise to victory.

Adilet was formed only in April and it absorbed the former party of power, Amanat, which was previously Nursultan Nazarbayev's party, Nur Otan.

So in the actual result there were no surprises 'cause we were expecting Adilet to cruise to victory.

What surprised me though was the turnout, because usually parliamentary elections don't really get that big a turnout.

I would say that Adilet is a new party, but not a new party, if you understand.

It's kind of new in that it was only set up four or five months ago, but it already had big resource behind it.

It's like, I think Amanat had something like 800,000 members, and they've all suddenly turned up as Adilet members now because Amanat merged with Adilet in July.

And Adilet has the administrative resource or the power of the authorities behind it, so they have more finance for advertising and to get their message across, whereas the other parties, not so much.

We got a bunch of pro-government parties running against each other.

I would bet with a lot of confidence that this newly created Auilvat party, which is the successor of, of Amanat, which was the successor of Nur Otan, is, is gonna take most of the seats.

A- and in the end, it really doesn't matter.

You know, there's 145 seats there.

So I think it's worth pointing out that the current dominant party in the outgoing parliament, it's called Amanat, holds 62 seats out of the 98 in the outgoing lower house, decided to merge with an upstart party, Adelaide, which was formed in the spring and attained official registration in the summer.

And what this will do is it will deliver a headline of a new party taking power, All of the analysts I've spoken to expect Adelaide to dominate the elections.

But again, under the surface, the political atmosphere remains the same.
