Halloween season is here, and it begins today with this Rewind episode from last year.

This is gonna be our look at the 1977 Mexican cult classic, Alucarda.

Uh, it is, uh, terrific.

It is, uh, a real favorite of mine.

And this is Joe McCormick.

And in today's episode of Weird House Cinema, we're gonna return once more to the wild world of Mexican horror to consider a film and a filmmaker often celebrated as one of its true greats.

We'll be discussing the 1977 cult classic, Alucarda, uh, also known as Alucarda: The Daughter of Darkness, directed by Juan López Moctezuma.

While not well-received by mainstream Mexican audiences at the time, it has become, uh, an, an obvious cult classic, a midnight movie.

And we are here to continue our Nun season.

We just finished, if you missed our first episode, that was on the great film Alucarda.

But today we are talking about a French film, Jacques Bivette's The Nun, which was actually my nomination for this season.

I'm obsessed with the director Jacques Rivette.

They knew we were discussing that film.

And now it's finally, I don't think it's gotten a real proper Blu-ray release before.

And our next episode is going to be slightly more explicit than Alucarda or The Nun, but still a film that I would definitely recommend checking out.
