KumarGUEST
... who is the co-host of and special guest on Fullmetal Alchemist and Comic Book Movie Oblivion respectively, both of which feature me-
TimHOST
[laughs]
KumarGUEST
...
KumarGUEST
Absolutely.
KumarGUEST
[upbeat music]
TimHOST
It's FullManga Alchemists.
TimHOST
This is Tim in Tokyo, not reading Parasyte in English by Hitoshi Iwaaki.
IzzyGUEST
... with your teeth.
IzzyGUEST
And it just made me think about how I was watching Fullmetal Alchemist the other day, and I got to the episode where, um, the teacher lady leaves, um, Ed and Alphonse on the island and makes them fend for themselves.
EarlHOST
Oh, yeah.
EarlHOST
[laughs] Yeah.
KumarHOST
Also, here's another option.
KumarHOST
Use the Alphonse actor.
TimGUEST
Because that guy's

The premise here is heavy, but it hooks you instantly.
speaker_0HOST
We follow two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric.
speaker_0HOST
They are prodigy alchemists living in a world that heavily resembles early 20th century Europe, right down to the steam trains and military uniforms.
speaker_1HOST
And in this world, alchemy is, uh, essentially a hard science that functions like state-sponsored magic.
JordoHOST
When I record these episodes, I keep the character list open, especially in something like this, where there's like a long list of characters.

Because Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric, Nina Tucker, Alexander, and Shao Tucker are all characters that are named in this show.
JordoHOST
Because there was an Easter egg for Fullmetal Alchemist.
JordoHOST
Oh, yeah.
speaker_1HOST
The premise starts out so tragic.
speaker_1HOST
Brothers Edward and Alphonse lose parts of their bodies or, in Alphonse's case, his entire body in this taboo alchemical experiment.
speaker_2HOST
Trying to bring their mother back.
speaker_1HOST
Right.
speaker_0HOST
Which plays out devastatingly in the opening act.
speaker_0HOST
Brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric attempt the ultimate taboo, human transmutation.
speaker_1HOST
They try to use alchemy to resurrect their deceased mother.
speaker_0HOST
And the cosmos or the rules of science demands a visceral toll for their arrogance.
MaggieHOST
[laughs]
Cassie/MooseHOST
They should put nine small men in Alphonse.
Stella JudeHOST
They should, that's true.
MaggieHOST
Wow.
Tom HarrisonHOST
It's so cool.
Riley HopkinsHOST
They have that Alphonse Elric helmet they just made.
Tom HarrisonHOST
Oh, no.
Riley HopkinsHOST
And here's a life-size Yoshi.
Dana SearingGUEST
Voice acting...
Dana SearingGUEST
It was Fullmetal Alchemist because I learned that Aaron Dismuke, voice of Alphonse Elric, was the same age as me or maybe a year older.
Dana SearingGUEST
And I was like, wait a minute.
Dana SearingGUEST
I was like, how are people my age doing this? That's crazy.
