Alpha-gal allergy

Quite depressing article about how prevalent Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses is taking over parts of the country right now.

And the second news was from the CBS Morning news, a magazine, uh, TV show on Sunday mornings where they were interviewing, uh, people from Martha's Vineyard, uh, where the lone star tick and the alpha-gal syndrome has become the topic of conversation to the extent that they were saying that, uh, many of family members were not having other families visit them on the Vineyard this summer, and restaurants were not only selling gluten-free meals, but they were selling alpha-gal meals too.

It just shows you where people are in terms of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.

So Ian, tick-borne illnesses seem to be increasing and expanding geographically.

I know that like on your site and you guys have a lot of like tick awareness education and stuff like that.

And you had mentioned like alpha gal, but there's, you know, Lyme disease, alpha gal, Rocky mountain spotted fever.

Those are the things regionally where, you know, like you said, alpha gal is the one that, Basically, there's no care for I've heard some things where people are doing like some strange stuff like acupuncture and some other

things that they're having some

success with.

Bourbon virus was just discovered last month.

In Bourbon County, Nebraska, that's another disease transferred by the Lone Star Tick.

The Lone Star Tick is the one that has the alpha gal.

And this is how I know you don't have this.

It creates something called alpha gal syndrome.

I still don't get what.

So alpha gal syndrome is a red meat allergy triggered by tick bites.

That I knew.

So he was eager to get into the ostrich business when W.D. King proposed raising them on his central Kentucky farm.

Alpha Gal is the main driver.

That is what's driving the ostrich market.

There are about 10 to 15 ostrich farms in the U.S. dedicated to raising the African native birds that don't taste like chicken and don't come cheap.
