Alohi Gilman

But I wanna point out that the Chiefs are dealing with an injury that really was not on my radar until Andy Reid spoke this morning.

Andy Reid was asked about the status of Shamari Conner and Alohi Gilman.

This is what he said.

The, a stretch, um, the other guy's, uh, yes, Gilman was out there practicing and doing his thing.

So the beginning of that clip, Shamari Conner playing would be a bit of a stretch.

He's dealing with a knee injury.

Alohi Gilman should be good to go.

I know that he was dealing with some back spasms-

I wasn't, I wasn't doing that to put you on the spot.

Point is, that was something a year ago at this time, everyone was really excited about that, and their secondary was a mess last year for the most part, other than Hamilton, right? I mean, they had to, you know, they, they brought in Alohi Gilman, they had to go back to the three safety looks, and Marlon Humphrey was bad.

Nate Wiggins was inconsistent, right? I mean, like, their secondary was a mess.

Now, I'm not saying that to, like, embarrass Chuck Pagano, but the point is, you can have all these expectations and you can love all these coaches, but it still all has to come together.

One about some of the other injuries.

You had a couple of the defensive starters out last we saw you with, Chamari Connor and Alohi Gilman.

Is there expectation that those guys will be able to go this

week? Chamari would be a stretch.

So they, they need all of those guys to step up, and in a lot of ways, especially on that defense, y- you've-- Spags has his two linebackers, right? He's got Bolton and Tranquill.

He's got Chris Jones and George Karla ftas, and then after that, you know, Shamarie Conner's a veteran who's played a ton and Alohi Gilman is a veteran but new to the system.

Outside of that, you've gotta rely on the young guys.

So I think you get a little bit of that kind of similar build of hey, you've, you've got some foundational veterans on that defense, but then those first three draft picks, they, they all need to be good this season to get where you wanna go.

The length, yeah

... because you, you, you know, you just don't see safeties who are that big and, and, uh, you know, the, the other difference is, you know, like, like Hamilton, when he was a freshman, had Jalen Elliott and Alohi Gilman.

Yeah.

So, like, they were both very experienced just like Shuler and Johnson are experienced, and obviously Talaj is experienced as well, but, but Shuler and Johnson even more so.
