All-wheel drive vehicle

It provides an incredibly similar level of stability to what people now pay thousands of dollars for when they upgrade to an electronic all-wheel drive system.

Obviously, AWD is fantastic technology, but adding a heavy rear end does a massive amount of the heavy lifting for $12.

For sure.

And here is where the sandbag completely outclasses modern technology.

The emergency aggregate.

Right.

If you're driving an AWD SUV and you slide off into a deep, icy ditch where all four tires are suspended in the snow, your $2,000 electronic drivetrain is completely useless.

All four wheels will just spin in the air.

It's rear drive, it's low, and frankly, you know what? I'm not subjecting it to all the wear and tear those winter atrocities bring.

My GR Corolla has GR4 all-wheel drive and real ground clearance.

And you know what? come no matter what winter brings it just goes through it dedicated ice and snow tires so when it comes to snow slush ice you know it just doesn't care now that's not a small thing in fact this all-wheel drive gr corolla is an absolute hoot to drive in the snow and on those slippery roads Keep in mind for me that's one third of the year where one of these cars just simply isn't an option and the other one is my only option.

Now reason number five before I sold my businesses this GR Corolla was actually my company car.

Now you can easily justify the GR Corolla as a company car due to its practicality in terms of space and cost which may be extremely difficult to justify that with something like a 718 Spyder.

Um, you said a lot of interesting things there.

I just wanna go back to something that you said about the difference between all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive.

Do you think that that makes a big difference, um, in your mind when it comes to driving characteristics?

I think with the older cars, like the 964 and to a certain degree the 993, yes, uh, you could feel the understeer.

Um, but the newer cars, uh, absolutely not as far as, uh, anything negative toward all-wheel drive.

In fact, I went to one of these Porsche road shows where they, um, basically let you drive, like, uh, eight models on the track, uh, under, uh, a guided, uh, driver.

Uh, but they had a t- two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive nine, 911 Carreras, and, uh, it was amazing how you could not tell the difference.

It is.

But again, the trade-off there is you got that huge pinch point on that new walkway between the Grand Floridian and, uh, and the Magic Kingdom.

And I know for our friends in AWD, that's been a struggle for times, especially with the Roll Disney community and, um, you know, getting over those humps and such.

But yeah, so I, I think it's gonna be very, very interesting to see how they tackle it.

It makes the Capri a highly viable option for transcontinental travel.

The so what here is pretty crucial.

These charging speeds mean significantly shorter, much more predictable stops at highway chargers for the performance-focused driver.
