yeah tell me the first song you remember buying from a record store

um so yeah i i i wasn't sure how to answer this one just because um So like, cause this wasn't me particular, but I put all star by smash mouth, which was on the CD Astro lounge, uh, which, which that was the first one I remember going to the store and, and with my parents and like, and, and, and my mom buying it for me.

It's like, I want this CD, uh, and she bought it for me.

Um, so it wasn't like my own, it wasn't me going in there, uh, on my own, but, uh, uh, I was, I remember I was very interested in getting this, getting this album, you know, and, and this was one of the albums where it's like every kid, I guess this kind of reminds me of my school days too, but you know, when I was, yeah, being in like fourth grade or whatever, every, every kid knew all the words to this song pretty much.

So I know it's just going to keep coming.

It's like that line from All Star by Smash Mouth, except instead of the years keep coming and they don't stop coming, it's the tasks.

Just replace the word years with tasks.

And that really overwhelms the hell out of me.

voices the uh winking to the parents and of course the dance number at the end of the movie yeah like it's the smash mouth of it all

no one wanted to have sex with me when i said that it was in mystery men first I was like, All-Star was in the video as the Mystery Men characters.

Yeah, yeah.

Ben Stiller was yet to really get over like we see with like Zoolander and stuff like that and Tropic Thunder.

[laughs] Dude, there was also, but there was also, like, All Star by Smash Mouth on there.

and you know what's coming out of that toilet you know what's coming out of that um crested moon door you know shrek is coming out of there because that it's understand the context of that scene before that of course like i said before disney always had their original songs on their soundtrack you know get the yet that I'm what's that want to let a mermaid she sings a party a world that's though she wants on that term you know under the sea you on the line can the Kermit on his own a you never had a friend like me some from a line in all the original songs made for the movie but track the differently Shrek actually decided to use songs that are ready that were already released or pop songs that were made for the movie but a lot of them were me from the actually but but still All Star was a placeholder for the other song that's eventually played on the end credits called Stay Home.

But people loved it so much and it fit so well that they decided to keep All Star, which thank God they did because that would not be the same.

Which actually, with that context, if you hear Stay Home at the end of the credits, it kind of does fit All Star in a way, to be honest.

But All Star, you know, obviously, it's better.

And... that changed everything, that really changed the movie, that changed the way people use songs in kids movies, I mean, now, obviously, you get the freaking minions using whatever song that's popular at the moment, and, you know, it's whatever, the Mario movie that just uses the worst 80s music you could ever think of, it's more normal now to have pop songs in kids movies, but at the time, again, you didn't really see that, and people really love that, I mean, it's incredible, but that again i mean you get other songs like my beloved monster by the eels uh another great song i'm on my way which was a previously older song bad agitation again another older song best years of my life by baha men another incredible song and the end credits hallelujah and uh others uh you belong to me which is a little

very underrated one on the soundtrack

but of course I'm a believer.

If not, then it would be Pee-wee's Big Adventure, which is near and dear to my heart.

And for those wholly unfamiliar with Mystery Men, uh, go watch the music video for Smash Mouth's All Star because that is actually weirdly tied into Mystery Men.
