All Mixed Up

Moving in stereo.

Now, if you know this song, where does your mind go? Mind wants to move right into all mixed up.

There are two songs, two titles, two sets of musical ideas, but listen to them together often enough and your memory starts treating them like one long experience.

We've talked before about how an album site changes the way music lands.

What happens when two particular tracks become inseparable in your head? It's not the same as claiming that every album must be heard in order.

It's about the strange power of a specific handoff.

Look right here at side two, moving in stereo and all mixed up, sit together.

The track list gives them separate names, and that's important.

Remain in Light is a great example of that because it seems like every song slows down in beats per minute on that record until it's totally crawling at the end.

All mixed up is a great, solemn, almost Middle Eastern flavor to it.

But the one thing I forgot about is that it comes out of moving in stereo.

It's like a suite.

Right.

She shadows me in the mirror

She never leaves on the light And some things that I say to her They just don't seem to bite It's all mixed up It's all mixed up It's all mixed up She tricks me into thinking I can't believe my eyes I wait for her forever But she never does arrive It's all mixed up It's all mixed up It's all mixed up

So there's no break there because it flows right into it.
