Uh, I'm going to take what I would call one of, I don't know if it's on the rush more, but it's firmly in the top 10 of Kanye West songs.

Oh my God.

Like, that's my number one karaoke song, and I still am like, "This is such a good song.

I was super materialistic in high school when this came out.

Um, and All Falls Down was, like, my theme song.

Like, I'm like, "Does he know me? Is he talking about me? How does he..." I felt so understood.

I had never felt so understood by a rapper before, someone in rap lyrics.

Well, see, I, I, I disagree with that.

I don't think that's when the rejection hap- I think the rejection happened right away.

I think, like, he initially was like, "Listen," like, I mean, All Falls Down is a really great story about that, about the idea of, like, how you're trying to struggle with, with being in the capitalist society but remain yourself.

And he was presenting these ideas, and his ultimate idea was, "Hey, let's reject these systems and let's let culture thrive.

Like, you listen to what he's saying, and suddenly you start recognizing that, "Well, why do I think this? Why am I not allowed to think this?" And I'm gonna give you an example.

One of his first mainstream songs was entitled All Falls Down.

It was a song where he laid out Which was quite shocking.

All of his insecurities, right? No artist had ever done this before at this stage.

A famous person referring to his own shortcomings, his financial irresponsibility, his inability to pronounce certain words, um, in the song as well.

Prior to, we, we all sort of had this idea of fame being unattainable in a way, and then Kanye dro- drops, drops All Falls Down, and he's calling everyone out, and I felt very seen by his lyrics.

He was speaking about, um...

In one, in one verse, he's speaking about a woman in college, and the lyrics are, "Man, I promise she's so self-conscious, she has no idea what she's doing in college.

Yeah.

I will say, to circle back to kind of like passing along with the torch, I remember Kanye's All Falls Down is from her song called Mystery of Inequity from the Unplugged album that Kanye hears.

And he's like, I would like to use this for All Falls Down.

And she says, you can't use my voice.

But then he gets into someone else to sing it.

We could have did things early on to get, you know, to get, I guess, rich quick or famous quick.

One of my favorite scenes, Cootie, in Genius is when Kanye was, was it at Def Jam or Rockefeller Studios where he was performing All Falls Down in front of Chaka Pilgrim? Yeah.

Yeah.

That was one of my favorite scenes.
