It is a crazy situation made crazier by the fact that the, the seafloor and the areas that are right up against the shores of Seattle are full of garbage.

Like they are, there's one dive site called the Alki junkyard.

Why is it called the Alki junkyard? Because it's like a junkyard underground underwater.

Um, and, This is also a place where there was a munitions factory that has leaked arsenic and other heavy metals into the water.

Chapter 19, Early Adventures in Seattle.

Two young men one morning in October 1851 were cutting logs on a long point of land now called Alki Point.

It is just across Elliott Bay from Seattle and a part of West Seattle.

It had not even a name then, and these two youths, Lee Terry and David Denny, were entirely alone.

The families of the two boys had just come across the plains to the Columbia River.

Most of the fertile lands in the Willamette and the Tualatin Valley had been taken up, and the two boys, with Denny's brother, had come up from Vancouver over the Cowlitz Trail to search for lands.

Fertile farming land on Puget Sound was hardly to be found, and knowing of the California trade in lumber, the older Denny had decided to settle on Alki Point and go to logging.

He had gone back to the Columbia to get his family and the Terrys, who were relatives.

How can retailers work with local advocacy groups, municipalities, and community organizations to support bicycle infrastructure that does increase riderships and brings more people into local bike shops? What approaches are working in getting retailers involved in transportation and street design decisions? Love this.

I just want to say it's Alki, which originally is a Native American term for sooner or later.

And actually, the area that I have my bike shop is a beach area in West Seattle, actually.

And they thought that that was going to become New York.

Especially West Seattle a lot.

In the summer, you'll see a lot of drunk people racing around on them around Alki.

The most interesting place I see them, though, is dumped underneath the waterfront.

My favorite restaurant.

I mean, it's not my favorite restaurant, but my favorite casual restaurant in Seattle is Sunfish on Alki.

It's a fish and

chips place.

We go there like twice a month.

I think it's really delicious.

And also just the location, it's right on Alki Beach.

It's so beautiful to be kind of looking at the water while you're eating your fish and chips.
