Well, it was certainly a busy day as we arrived in a rather overcast Belfast port.

We headed to Victoria Terminal 2 to meet Darren Byers.

So monitoring radar, VHF radio, etc, etc.

So I did that for a number of years before joining the RNLI as an operations manager covering within the UK and Ireland.

What made you want to do that? Because I did a podcast recently about the lifeboat station nearest where Alistair and I both live in Morecambe and they've been going for 60 years and two volunteers I met, you know, it really was their passion.

One was running a garage, one was running her own company, you know, but making the time to do that alongside very busy lives, you know, they were very committed to do, I guess the same for you.

I'm Kat Thorne and I'm the Head of Talent and Culture at Novantia UK.

So I manage a team of currently 15 people.

I'm Nigel Thompson, a journalist with an interest in ships and shipping.

And I'm Alistair Eagles, and I've been working in shipping for 30 years, laterally running a freight ferry service on the Irish Sea.

And Alistair, we had a great reaction to the last podcast which featured two historic ships, not one but two, the Arctic Corsair

and the Waverley as well.

The Waverley was great, such a great evening, sailing down Carlingford Lock, one of those nights that I'll remember for a very long time and great to see that historic ship but also interesting to learn all about for me, the Arctic Corsair, which I knew very little about before listening to our own podcast.
