Voting rights advocates are speaking out today in Tarrant County after officials proposed eliminating some polling sites before Election Day.

Democratic Commissioner Alisa Simmons says it's a bipartisan issue and she's encouraging voters to attend Tuesday's meeting where she and her colleagues could vote on a final list of voting sites.

The new plan being considered right now would make fewer cuts compared to the initial proposal that sparked outrage.

The first proposal would have reduced the number of locations from 316 in the last midterm to 176 sites on Election Day and cut eight early voting sites, leaving 42.

So there was a briefing earlier this month at the Tarrant County Commissioner's Court about this task force and the work that it has accomplished so far.

That briefing was requested by Democratic Commissioner Alisa Simmons, who has been a vocal critic of this task force.

She had several questions about what the task force has accomplished and why it's needed.

The other members of the commissioner's court really didn't have much to say about the task force.
