The Chinese, the Iranians, the Russians, they've hit hospitals.

Advocacy organizations like Casa San Jose, like Frontline Dignity, they and others say ICE activity is increasing in Beachview, the heart of Pittsburgh's Latino community.

It's almost impossible to get reliable data on this, but there have been incidents at Las Palmas, confrontations in Cranberry and Aliquippa, so we thought it was a good time to bring back our conversation with Vanessa Stein, a senior staff attorney for the ACLU of Pennsylvania, about how to try and protect yourself and your neighbors during and after an ICE encounter, and what rights people have regardless of their immigration status.

How often did you have to talk about ICE and ICE activity before January 2025?

A lot.

And since we first published this episode, another group has formed to help people document and observe ICE activity to respond when needed.

They're called Frontline Dignity.

I know we mentioned them before, but they're hosting another rapid response training on September twenty-third in Aliquippa.

They also do virtual trainings from time to time.

I think what maybe differentiates this a bit is that Granville is somebody who really had a lot of fanfare around him long distance.

You know, Zariah Fisher is a guy who's kind of in your backyard at Aliquippa.

With Granville, this is a huge retreat.

to bring him up from Texas a year ahead of schedule.

She owns a gym out in Beaver Falls.

I guess it's technically Aliquippa is where it's located, but it's called Box Strong.

What was your dad's occupation?

He worked in a steel mill, Jones and Laughlin Steel Mill in Aliquippa.
