Alice Fahs

What if instead of being the first and only, they were joined with other colleagues so that all the attention and violence wasn't just on one person? Finally, I want to highlight that all the things we're seeing today, election denial, refusal to seat elected members of Congress to their seats, the vilification of marginalized groups, and the murder of elected officials with no real political or judicial consequence has already happened in the past, and it will continue to happen so long as we react to injustice and backlash with silence and complicity.

I want to thank Dr. Alice Fahs from UC Irvine for sparking my love in the Reconstruction period, and Dr. Tressie McMillan Cotton, who is always fighting to remind us that race and racism lie at the root of all power struggles and inequality in American life.

That's all we have for me.

Thank you for joining me for our first ever Grifty Side Hustle.
