Hi, my name's Ali Pitts, and welcome to a Russian and Soviet movie podcast.

If you're listening to this on the day of release, the 29th of September, 2026, happy Silent Movie Day! If you haven't already listened to my recent minisode about Silent Movie Day, do give that a listen.

So, to celebrate this fascinating early period in the development of film, I'm releasing this episode of Media Evil, a medieval pop culture podcast.

The show is hosted by historian Dr. Sarah Ifdeka, and Sarah and I recorded this episode back in 2021.

The subject of our conversation is Danish filmmaker Carl Theodor Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc.

While this film is clearly a long way outside the usual remit of a Russian and Soviet movie podcast, the theme of a person being persecuted by the powers that be, then being posthumously rehabilitated, does have a certain resonance with the historical times and places we typically cover.

and thank you all for listening to media evil bye

Hello again.
