And so you can see downed trees that are lining roadways still and piles of rubble that are marked with orange cones.

And when I was on Ali'i Drive, for instance, Kono's waterfront, there's this old bar that used to be a local haunt called Gertrude's, and I saw that it had lost its roof, and it looks like people have just literally draped tarps on top of it.

And I was with my parents, and I said, oh, I didn't realize that Gertrude's was so badly damaged during Lala, and they said, oh...

It's been like that since the Kona lows.

The run course, I don't know if they'd ever change it in Kona, but just keep it along Ali'i Drive, and just let the athletes f- just hammer up and down there and get the support behind them.

Well, I'm curious what happens, what you have before it turns into copper.

And the celebration of local culture continues on Hawaii Island where Ali'i Drive, this is over in Kailua-Kona, is turning into a community marketplace.

The monthly Kokua Kailua Village Stroll returns today, bringing more than 100 local Kailua Village visitors, and they can shop for locally made art, crafts, food, and gifts while enjoying live entertainment and a free fall concert.

The family-friendly event starts at 1 o'clock this afternoon, goes till 6 p.m. along Ali'i Drive, and admission is free.

So it's a nice walk if you want to go ahead and take it in where they close down Ali'i Drive.

It's kind of like Block Party, but it's more for those that are seeking some good bargains out there.

Yeah, and the weather's good for that, right?

I just think back on those days, and it was just so fun, like being in the arena, being actually the one who was on that start line and battling every, every year, um, and being able to be on the top of the podium.

Like, that's what you dream about, right? Like, your whole career, you-- It's, uh, for me anyway, it was running down Ali'i Drive in first place, and I actually got to experience it, um, a few times.

So yeah, grateful.

Um, yeah, I think back and it's like a lifetime ago now, um, with-- obviously now I'm parenting and coaching, and this is what my life is.
