Brigadier General Mohammad Karami, commander of the Revolutionary Guard's ground forces, told reporters during a visit to islands in the Persian Gulf that Iran's armed forces will respond decisively to any miscalculation by the enemy.

Iran's armed forces chief of staff, Major General Ali Abdullahi, issued a nearly identical warning the same day.

Neither statement was new in substance, but the timing was pointed.

Both men spoke on the very day their commander-in-chief's opposite number in Washington was telling reporters he was weighing a return to major combat.

But luckily, there were no casualties due to prior evacuation efforts.

So Major General Ali Abdullahi, who is the chief of the general staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, said the following, quote.

The aggressive US army has given Iranian oil tankers a warning to evacuate in order to attack them.

So I declare that any attack on Iranian oil tankers will result in the targeting of US bases in the region by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

And so far, Iranian media has reported that at least one tanker was struck near Karg Island and that there were no casualties to the crew since they evacuated.

Major General Ali Abdullahi, the chief of the general staff of the Iranian armed forces, said that the U.S. had warned the tankers would be targeted.

So they gave some sort of warning beforehand.

And then so so far, we've seen what look like pretty heavy IRGC strikes on U.S. bases in Jordan.

Iranian media outlets reported explosions in the vicinity of the island, though initial reports suggest the targeted vessel's crew was evacuated without casualties.

Following the strikes, Iran's Khartam al-Ambia Central Headquarters, through Commander-Major General Ali Abdullahi, issued a warning stating that any attacks on its oil tankers would trigger a military response against American interests and bases in the region.

In a separate incident the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or IRGC claimed its naval forces successfully ambushed a US submarine at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.

An explosion was also heard in the port city of Jask on the Gulf of Oman though its connection to the tanker strike has not been immediately established.

Sanctioned groups include Deid Negar Startup Studio and the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Cyber Electronic Command, implicated in intelligence gathering and supporting attacks, including during Operation Epic Fury.

Several Iranian officials were also targeted, including former Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Council, Mohammad Baghazolghada, and IRGC commanders Ahmad Vahidi and Ali Abdullahi.

In response, Tehran has vowed retaliation.

Iranian Economy Minister Ali Madnazideh stated they are fully prepared for the sanctions and warned that their defense is no longer purely defensive.

He says, "We declare to all countries, do not join the economic war waged by the United States.

Any country participating in economic restrictions against us is considered an enemy." And of course, the Chief of the Iran's Armed Forces, Major General Ali Abdollahi, he promised Friday that Iran would respond to enemy threats militarily with crushing, comma, punishing, comma, and devastating responses.

Uh, the secretary's spokesperson declined to comment.

A US Army official, unnamed, told The Hill on Saturday they heard a similar timeline for a departure.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury Department announced new sanctions against Lebanon's Hezbollah on Thursday and declared the group as in, quote, service to the Iranian regime.

Iranian Military Chief of Staff Major General Ali Abdollahi said on Friday that Iran will respond to any new threats with, quote, regret-inducing and devastating responses, state media reported.

The Yemeni military announced on Thursday that it had carried out eighty-one military operations against the Houthis in the past twenty-four hours.

Yemen is stepping up its operations as the Houthis claim more attacks in Yemen and against Saudi Arabia.

The warning came hours after the United Arab Emirates announced it was suspending all trade, commercial exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran until further notice.

Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Ali Abdullahi said Gulf states should be aware that Tehran was monitoring military activity at regional bases.

The UAE has also accused Iran of launching ballistic missiles toward the country, although it later said the missiles were directed at shipping.

The developments follow the collapse of a framework U.S.-Iran deal aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route.
