Alfred Sommer

I had some amazing mentors in the climbing world, I had some amazing mentors in the tennis world, I had some amazing mentors in my academic world, and certainly amazing mentors in global ophthalmology and the ophthalmology world.

I was really fortunate that heroes of mine like Al Sommer, Hugh Taylor, Alan Crandall really became friends.

They became mentors and friends.

And now I've got some amazing young mentees who I hope are going to take it to a level way beyond what I've been able to do.
