Alfred Charles Hobbs

So this story takes place in 1851.

There's a guy named Alfred C. Hobbs.

He's an American, and he's on a boat to England to attend the Great Exhibition of London.

And he's a lock salesman.

had a lot of interest in their safes being, well, safe, right? I mean, the whole pitch of the safe was that it's hard to break into, so you can put all your things in there.

But an American locksmith, Alfred Charles Hobbs, publicly cracked both the Chubb and Brahman safes that were at this London exhibition in 1851.

There was a detector lock, which was a very famous Chubb product that that Hobbs cracked in 25 minutes.

And Brahma had a challenge lock produced.
