Yes, yes.

And she was doing this interview, and there was a male she was speaking to, and the male said something along the lines of, and instead of, uh, female empowerment, he said female power.
4:01
And she looked at him and said, "Thank you so much for saying that, because we don't ever say male empowerment.
4:06
We just say males in power." It really hit me recently, and it's just a really great reminder that there shouldn't be this thing where we have to work towards being empowered, because we are by nature just powerful, period.
4:21
For being, for living, for breathing, we all have our own innate power, so it's more so about how can you tap into it, and how do you start to identify what your gifts and strengths and talents are so that you can walk in and start to feel the power that you already have.
4:37
We already have it.
4:38
You just have to tap into it.

Right.
1:56
It's believing that we're worthy of asking for their time.
2:00
When did you realize that? I had been giving my number and my email to so many young girls because I wanted to support and help them on their career journey.
2:09
But weeks would go by and I would never hear from them.
2:12
And it was the strangest thing because I'm like, I just gave you my cell phone number.
2:16
I gave you my email.
2:17
I said, reach out.
2:18
I'm excited to help you.

I'm curious, what has been that mentor experience for you in your career from the beginning? Is it something that you were working towards specifically? Were you given the advice to get a mentor? How did that whole journey start for you?
9:26
Me too
9:26
... every time I pick up a book like that from Barnes & Noble or just off of Amazon, I can learn so much from their stories of what they failed, um, w- how they were rejected, what happened, um, all th- those pains in their life where they were able to overcome it.
9:42
And that, to me, is such a key point of being able to use someone else's story for inspiration or guidance or mentorship because I can name you t- 10 women, right, that I've read their self-help books or their memoirs or, um, just their stories and has still made an impact on me.
10:03
I, I'll name one.
10:04
Um, Nicole Walters' book, um, really is just so incredible because she shares such specific stories in her life where she, you know, was low income, she was struggling with money, she never had money, and then she said one day, like, "I have the, the chance to change my life." And she ended up n- like, s- getting herself on the Wheel of Fortune, [laughs] like the show back in the day.
13:08
Um, so Getting You Ready For Power, how and why did you name it that? And tell me a little bit about your story that inspired this.
13:18
Oh my gosh.
13:19
Okay, I'll break it down into a couple of maybe points, but basically, um, three years ago was when I started writing this because I was going through my own self-healing journey.
13:13
You're building what everything should be.
13:16
Yeah.
13:16
And you guys get it.
13:18
Like, let me just say that from the moment I saw you guys, and I don't...
13:23
I'm, I'm gonna give you the credit because we need to talk about where credit is due.
13:26
But from the moment I saw you guys, met you guys, connected with you guys, you guys are doing it.
13:32
And I'm-- I will always be one of your biggest fans because you have inspired me and hundreds of other women, okay? To, to make it okay to take a bet on yourself, to not feel scared, to, to do something and feel like you're the only one in the room.

What advice can you share with everyone about the behind-the-scenes of making a spectacular event like the Business Of Her happen?
