This was a first-time watch for me, and I was pretty floored by it.

It is Alex Proyas' Dark City.

Man, do I love this film.

And it's also one of those movies where if you don't like it, Totally understand.

I think she is terrific in this movie.

What I do love about this thing is just how twisted and inventive that it is.

And I think it's very unfortunate that Hollywood won't really bankroll Alex Proyas again anytime soon.

But I mean, you know, you're you're you're thinking, though, at the end of the movie, when it happens, you're like, hmm, justice

served cold justice.

Yeah, so there's some weird shit going on in the movie, but I should mention that the director of this film is Alex Proyas.

This movie is shot very well.

In terms of speaking of the Crow, if you like Alex Proyas being allowed to creatively stretch his muscles a little bit, have you seen iRobot? Yeah.

No, you should see Dark City.

You were saying that it's a great film.

Well, you know what his reaction to not taking the role in The Matrix is, right? Okay, can I have someone who's like The Matrix, that's stylish? Like, I don't get it, probably, but can I just get something like that? It's iRobot.

That's what that is, because it's Alex Proyas, who, you know, he had The Crow, but before iRobot, it was Dark City, which was not a financial success.

So it's like Will Smith is grabbing someone who is a visionary and trying to give him the tools to get his own Matrix.

In the same way that Sean Connery was like, I didn't take the Matrix in Lord of the Rings, so I guess

don't think it would have been as good.

Putting aside all the many differences between Alex Proyas and the Wachowskis, you watch iRobot and it is it's very much consumed to Will Smith's like persona and star power, which is not I mean, God bless Keanu Reeves.

He was the perfect person for that movie because the whole movie like he is a cipher in the middle of that film very, very purposely.

And that was 2002's Garage Days.

Garage Days was directed by Alex Proyas, who also co-wrote the film.

Proyas started his career in Australia making music videos, including Crowded House's moody Don't Dream It's Over and Better Be Home Soon.

He would go to America and direct films like The Crow and Dark City.
