Alex Coco

I think it's, what makes it so great is that it really is a movie that I feel like when I've talked to people about this movie, like everyone really likes it for different reasons, and I think the story evolves so much as you go in the film because it opens up.

And you know, Alex Coco is a producer on this movie.

He works with Sean Baker frequently, and there is a feel that at the beginning of the movie like, "Oh, is this gonna be like Anora or this kind of wild party movie based on the description?" And I like that we get to see that side of the film and of the characters at first, but then it quickly changes and morphs into something totally different when Arlo, this character, shows up.

And people have compared it to Big Daddy.

It's the producer of a Nora.

Alex Coco produced a Nora and then a 24.

What I'm trying to tell you is Jordan Firstman's acting in this movie is really good.

Phenomenal.

You know, you gotta bring 'em in.

[laughs] My guest today is my friend Samantha Quan, who is the producer of films like The Florida Project and Red Rocket, and in 2024 she won the Academy Award as one of the producers on Anora, and I was in my living room screaming at the TV.

I was so excited.

For me personally, I don't know very many people of my friends who've won Best Picture for... [laughs] It was very exciting.

Thanks so much for having me.

Yeah.

Um, and I was an associate producer on Florida Project.

Okay.
