call.
4:19
Yeah.
4:21
I was excited because it's like, you know, I just, I, one, love to play, but two, just I feel like I like the more difficult situations because it's just like I'm going to embrace it.
4:33
I'm going to say, hey, you know, this guy's pitching really well right now.
4:36
He's one of the best in the game.
4:37
He's got really good stuff.
4:39
But I know my assignment.
5:11
Is that how you've been able to stay ready, whether it's off the bench or in spot starts this year?
39:34
What was the key to have success against him? And obviously, it's always tough, no matter who you're facing, but him especially.
39:42
Yeah, I think when I got the call that I'm playing or whatever.
39:48
Yeah, the call.
39:49
Yeah.
39:51
I was excited because it's like, you know, I just, I, one, love to play, but two, just I feel like I like the more difficult situations because it's just like I'm going to embrace it.

He's one of the best in the game.
40:41
Is that how you've been able to stay ready, whether it's off the bench or in spot starts this year?
1:10
How much does it mean to you to still be part of this team and be able to contribute to a possible three-peat?
1:16
Yeah, I mean, you kind of been dealing with that question a lot, just trying to wrestle with it all throughout the year.
1:24
And it's just so much fun here.
1:27
And the guys are great.
1:29
And you get to play amongst the best.
1:30
And, you know, Hall of Famers everywhere and possibility for winning a World Series.
1:35
I mean, last year was so much fun.
2:05
How big has that been to your role on this team to not waver from your daily routine?

39:47
It's like, why would you not want to do that again, no matter what the capacity? And, you know, I'll be ready, and I'm ready for my moments, not only today, but as we go throughout the rest of the season in October.

38:24
So I am going to hand him the microphone, and I'll wear whatever you have for me.
38:30
Thank you, Dave.
38:31
Well, it's great to be here.
38:33
And, you know, I was getting a little bit nervous after all the, you know, reports reporting from Dave Vasse and others.
38:44
But, you know, I kept the faith, you know, because at the end of the day, you love being a Dodger.
38:50
It's been an amazing year for me.
38:51
It's been so much fun and it's out of your control, but grateful to still be here.
38:58
What were the conversations like from Andrew Friedman? Did he tell you David Basset is an
4:36
Do you feel like you guys can be better at that? I mean, I think
4:41
overall there's always room to improve.
4:43
I think baseball, there's ebbs and flows.
4:47
And whenever you're not performing the best, sometimes you have to just keep going, number one.
4:54
But two, sometimes you have to look in the mirror and say, hey, what can we do better? And any time you want to just take the focus level up a couple extra notches, not try harder by any means because that doesn't always work.
5:07
But just, hey, just have a little bit of extra focus.
5:09
I mean, we're approaching the halfway point of the season.
5:35
How much knowing that you guys have a little extra room, margin of error because of the standings and how far you're ahead right now plays into all that?

Is this just a day in the life of Alex Call?
2:50
Yeah, it is.
2:53
It's a blessing to be able to be on this team and play Major League Baseball and do what I do.
2:59
There's just so much that goes into it.
3:01
Every single kid wants to be in my position.
3:06
You can't take that for granted.
3:08
You have to go and attack every day with the mindset of, hey, I got to earn my keep today.
6:46
Do you feel like you got picked off there and you were fortunate? How do you look back at it now that we've had a week to kind of digest it all?

Can you take us through going first move on Miller to force that throwing error?
0:26
Yeah, well, first credit to Muntz.
0:28
Great at bat, getting on base.
0:30
And coming in, you know, green light there.
0:33
So, you know, we're willing to, you know, obviously you don't want to be stupid, but trust the scouting, trust your eyes.
0:40
And, you know, got the look that we wanted and, you know, You know, ended up, you know, there's a reason why I guess he's only got a couple picks in the last few years.
0:49
But, yeah, I mean, lucky when you work out in your favor.
0:59
in the ninth inning sacrifice fly by andy pa has close play at the plate the ball was cut off for some reason and you got your foot on home plate emphatically when you're getting closer to home plate obviously with the new rules what do you think in there
22:52
What were the messages to you guys?
22:54
Yeah, I mean, they were just saying, "Hey, we, we're here 'cause we wanna win." And, uh, we, uh, the Dodgers have established a culture of winning, treating players right, treating families right, doing the little things right, and it all adds up to excellence.
23:10
And so it doesn't surprise you when you finally get to come in the doors and experience it firsthand.
23:17
Uh, it's truly, uh, truly special to put on the uniform.
23:21
And, and I mean, and then the fans are so passionate.
23:25
I mean, we're out here in AZ and they're all lined up, going crazy for us and, you know, on top of that, obviously the parades and just being way more recognized around.
23:35
It's super fun and really appreciative of them.

31:34
How important is it for you guys to be involved, I guess as much as you wanna be, in what's going on with the, you know, the union that, that protects you guys?
4:55
Was that just you being you, or you, were you like, "Okay, I gotta be somebody different now than with the Dodgers"?
5:01
Yeah, no, I'm, that, I was...
5:03
The message was really clear once I got here.
5:05
It's like, "Hey, we got you because we like what you do.
5:08
And so keep doing you." And that really just took the pressure off of me.
5:12
Um, 'cause you know, when your name gets called and they're like, "You're going to the Dodgers," I'm like, "The Dodgers are the best team in baseball.
5:18
They're the prohibited World Series favorites.
