So states and borders and nationality become absurdities if you believe in that.

Which is why, thank God, some conservatives, and here I would pay great tribute to Kemi Badenoch, I would pay great tr- tribute to people like Lord Woolston, the Shadow Attorney General, to Alex Burghart.

They have begun to recognize that there is an absolute incompatibility between conservatism and a belief in universal human rights.

And do you know what? Disraeli says that in the 1860s.

And I wonder, I think that a lot of Conservatives had their nose put out of joint by the actions of some of the civil service between 2020 and 2024.

You've got in Alex Burghart, the newly promoted deputy leader of the Conservative Party, someone who has the Cabinet Office brief.

He's someone who's been very critical of the Blairite political machinery and the Brownite economic structures of, that the civil service now represents post 1997.

So I think that Antonia Romeo is very much reflecting the view that she has to make the civil service work for- Politicians make this government a success tacitly, and also, I think, put a bit of spirit back in the civil service.

Great.

Well, good news for Britain, good news for Michael Gove, good news for Alex Burghart, who I think is taking PMQs tomorrow, and good news for listeners.
