Nick WuszHOST

It sounded like
Jason WaltonHOST
40:47
Alcest at the end.
Jason WaltonHOST
40:48
That was
Nick WuszHOST
40:48
fucking awesome.
TonyHOST
83:38
They're like a core metal, not just black metal, but a core metal band for me.
TonyHOST
83:45
They were recommended alongside bands like Alcest and... uh, an Agaloc when I was like first getting into metal.
TonyHOST
83:53
Uh, so I have absolutely loved them for so long and I think everything they do is like perfect.
TonyHOST
84:00
I'm probably a little biased, but I don't, I don't think they do anything bad or mediocre.
MikeHOST
147:28
So Mastodon has been on tour for the past while.
MikeHOST
147:34
Yeah, they're getting near the end of their tour, and they made a stop in Greensboro.
MikeHOST
147:38
And with them were – Deaf Heaven, who made a big name for themselves several years ago, but also a band from France called Alceste that both Ashley and I really like.
MikeHOST
147:53
And they don't come to the US very often.
MikeHOST
147:57
The only time I had seen them in person, also Ashley was with me, was at this music festival in Baltimore back in like 2017, 2018, something like that.
Tori KravitzGUEST
41:43
Well, so there's the band.
Tori KravitzGUEST
41:44
I mean, they definitely have their flowers, but I think in the U.S. they are severely lacking in flowers.
Tori KravitzGUEST
41:49
I just saw a band last week called Alceste.
Tori KravitzGUEST
41:51
They're a French shoegaze black metal band.
Scott PenfoldHOST
41:55
I've heard of Alceste.
Scott PenfoldHOST
41:56
Yeah.
Scott PenfoldHOST
41:56
And I'm really into black metal.
JeffHOST
27:49
It's very exciting.
JeffHOST
27:49
And they're also currently on tour coming near here, I think this weekend with Alcest and Mastodon.
JeffHOST
27:57
So I recommend everyone go check them out.
JeffHOST
27:59
I think I saw the playlist or the set list.
JohnGUEST
66:07
Bizarrely through black metal stuff because there's a lot of French, it's called black gaze, it's like black metal meets shoegaze kind of stuff.
JohnGUEST
66:15
Like Alcest and they disconnect and stuff.
JohnGUEST
66:18
And I've
DannyHOST
66:18
kind of gone back.
TraceyHOST
11:45
Carrie McCoy on guitars and bass, and Daniel Tracy on drums.
TraceyHOST

Kevin KautzmanHOST
9:19
Um, I have some biographical information I'll probably, I'll probably pause and read at some point.
Kevin KautzmanHOST
9:24
But to begin, why, why do you wanna talk about him? Why should people have him on their radar now? W- how is he germane today? Oh, oh, and I have a costume change, 'cause for people watching on YouTube, I have the, uh, the Alcest shirt.
Kevin KautzmanHOST
9:39
But then in the middle of this, I'm gonna change into the Minnesota Vikings Justin Jefferson jersey because both of my college teams lost in spectacular fashion yesterday, and I need the Vikings, uh, to save the day this weekend.
Kevin KautzmanHOST
9:54
Um, but it's also on brand.
Brian AlfredHOST
59:14
we'll release it should we we could all right i'll start on it today
Michelle PaterokGUEST
59:20
I saw a band live the other day.
Michelle PaterokGUEST
59:22
They're a French band called Alceste.
Michelle PaterokGUEST
59:24
And I looked up what they're categorized as because I didn't know what exactly it was.
Michelle PaterokGUEST
59:30
And apparently it's like post black metal shoegaze.
Perran HelyesHOST
24:43
Mainly for me, this has reminded me that I am very excited to see Wake here in the UK at Damnation Festival in a few weeks' time.
Perran HelyesHOST
24:50
And then, like I said, while we're on live albums, Alcest have also got one coming.
Perran HelyesHOST
24:54
It's live at Hellfest 2022, so not actually for their latest... album which was 2024 wasn't it but you know on the cycle preceding that um they've just decided this hellfest set was was good enough and good you know well recorded enough to be out there in a pro capacity it's got very nice really really beautiful um you know striking uh cover art and I have to say looking at this Alcest setlist from Hellfest, a really good classic Alcest, you know, collection of tracks as well with, you know, Arcade of the Loom Part 2, Autre Temps, Kodama, Deliverance from Shelter Closing, good.
Perran HelyesHOST
25:28
And finally, live music news on this side of the Atlantic, very little of it in, you know, grander areas this week, but we do have the announcement the Exerts are doing a headline tour, I believe I read somewhere, that they were involved with a Twin Atlantic tour that has maybe gone under.
Perran HelyesHOST
25:45
It's no longer happening, so this has been sort of organized to go ahead in its place.
