Yeah.The evidence on this is, is pretty much indisputable.

You could look at any serial sex offender going back to Albert DeSalvo, the Boston Strangler in the '60s-

Yeah

... and look at those that he took off from, those that he ran away from.

Yeah

...

Ted Bundy, Albert DeSalvo, any of these guys.

Yeah.

He'd become one of the most famous defense attorneys in America.

the Boston Strangler, of course, later O.J. Simpson.

But that night, he leaned over to the man next to him and he said, Introduce me to Dorothy Kilgallen.

This I want on tape.

He couldn't do it.

I said, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Henry Lee Lucas, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, Albert DeSalvo, the Boston Strangler, David Berkowitz, Son of Sam, on and on and on.

I said, son, I'm driving.

I said, son, you are a serial killer.

I actually feel and look pretty good for 35, I think anyway.

If you ever cover the Boston Strangler murders, I have a personal haunting story from when I lived in an apartment building where one of his victims was killed.

And by the way, Midnight Rambler is loosely based on Albert DiSalvo, the Boston Strangler.

Next up, we have Leonard Cohen singing about a midnight encounter.

He was a mentalist.

From time to time, he would involve himself in high-profile cases, or he involved himself in, I don't think he was ever invited in, but he would involve himself in cases like the Boston Strangler, the Sharon Tate murders, the Manson murders, claims that he was able to identify Charles Manson and Susan Atkins and all kinds of, he claimed everything, but nothing was ever proven.

In fact, in the case of John Collins, he proclaimed that the murderer had blonde hair and at other times said it was brown.

He described the murderer as five foot five or six inches tall and weighed 140 pounds.

I said, "Just, just give me two." He couldn't do it.

I said, "Look, Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson, uh, John Wayne Gacy, Henry Lee Lucas, Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, Son of Sam, Albert DeSalvo, the Boston Strangler," on and on and on.

I said, "They're all white." I said, "Son, you are a serial killer." He said, "Daryl, I never killed anybody." I say, "Your gene is latent, hasn't come out yet."

[laughs]

Okay.

Because I want to talk about the Boston Strangler.

Okay.

So have you done an episode on the Boston Strangler?

I don't know.

I don't think so.

The description that he gives is an exact description of one of the people that they're looking into, that police are looking into.

But ultimately there was no evidence linking this man to the murders.
