Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District

Residents of Cherry Creek are being asked to vote on a new service that would provide funding for local recreation facilities.

The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District is seeking voter approval on Tuesday for Bylaw E ten sixty-nine, which would allow them to contribute up to twenty-five thousand dollars annually to the Cherry Creek Community Recreation Commission.

This money would help cover operating and maintenance costs related to the community hall.

Registration to vote happens at the voting place itself.

Clark says he's humbled and grateful for the recognition.

The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District is thanking Port Alberni for their partnership during last year's significant Mt. Underwood wildfire.

ACRD staff presented a piece of artwork to Port Alberni City Council on Thursday as a gesture of appreciation.

The wildfire began in August and eventually covered over three thousand five hundred hectares before being contained later that year.

During the emergency, both the city and regional district operated from their shared Emergency Operations Center, working together on evacuation orders, alerts, and recovery efforts, which included dealing with road closures on Road and a power outage impacting communities like Bamfield and Ahnaqlah.
