I know people, particularly in secondary land, you suddenly feel like it's a race to the finish line and we're about to go into our prelim exams.

But I'm so aware that our teachers have had learning dialogues, which are our parent interviews, which we do in a really cool way at Albany Senior.

So we've had enrollment interviews.

We're getting into prelims.

Do you know we've got a very exciting launch coming and I'm going to be totally indulgent and share it through AEC as well.

So we actually at Albany Senior High School for some time now we've been working on a short film and this week is the launch week.

What school did you go to, Toby?

Oh, well, I went to Rangitoto College for like two years, then they asked me to leave, and then I went to Albany Senior for a year, and that was legendary.

Okay.

Which school will you be representing this morning?

For some teens who jumped onto social media around 12 years old, some of what the government mentioned has resembled their experiences.

Here are some year 13 students from Auckland's Albany Senior High School.

Oh, like the red pill.

There are indeed some spaces that aren't well-designed and need to be, um, revisited and fixed.

But actually, there's a whole lot of potential and, um, you know, I look to our particular school, Albany Senior High School, and we've been doing a lot of reflecting recently on what we do and why we do it and the outcomes we achieve and, you know, we get some of the highest, um, grades and outcomes for young people in North Shore, Auckland as one of the only modern learning environments in the area.

So if that's what a failed experiment looks like, we should have more failed experiments 'cause they get great outcomes for our young people.

So yeah, just, it's just one of those political positioning messaging that gets a little bit frustrating.

Uh, my name is Claire Amos, and I have the absolute privilege of being the principal of Albany Senior High School, and also one of the members of the Aotearoa Educators Collective Action Group.

It is my privilege this morning to also welcome an international friend who is going to appear like magic on the big screen in just a moment.

Um, Mr. Anthony Mackay, I'm going to give you a potted history of this man's bio, because if I read the full list, it would actually take up the whole 15 minutes that he has to talk to us this morning.

Three students from Albany Senior, Pinehurst and Christon are coming in and going to do a speech.

We asked if they could talk about what Anzac Day means to them and their family and their community and how they feel about it.

So that will be interesting.

So, yeah, and my daughter, my eldest daughter, was a foundation pupil of Albany Primary.

junior high and Albany senior high.

So being a foundation pupil and being involved in all of that as well, Albany is a beautiful place.
