Alaskan Hotel and Bar

Okay.

She had a lot of experiences where, you know, we'd, you know, be at a ho- One example, we stayed at the Alaskan Hotel, and-

... she woke up in the middle of the night feeling like someone was groping her, and it, like, really was unsettling for her.

However, it absolutely delighted me, and I've tried to feature Alaska many times on the show as my way of thanking those unknown listeners for their early and continuing support.

So while doing some research on haunted locations in our 49th state, I was thrilled to stumble upon the Alaskan Hotel and Bar.

The history and haunted lore surrounding this site was so rich and prolific, I knew we needed to hear more, and I was very lucky to be connected with Joshua Adams, an architectural historian and author of The Life and Times of the Alaskan Hotel.

I grew up in an old building, and when you grow up in, around an old building, you grow up around the paranormal.

It is just a fact of life.

When Joshua says he grew up in an old haunted building, he's not being hyperbolic, because Joshua's parents own the Alaskan Hotel and Bar, and he grew up on site.

The hotel, built in Juneau, Alaska, opened its doors in September 1913 and is the oldest operating hotel in all of Southeast Alaska.
