Davenport pleaded not guilty in the January shooting death of his 87-year-old grandmother, Velma Koonce.

The dismissal followed a contested competency hearing last week while Davenport remained committed at Alaska Psychiatric Institute.

In a February interview with Alaska's News Source, Brian's father, George Koonce says he believed his son became fixated on his grandmother's suffering from dementia and intestinal cancer during a mental break.

And he could see her suffering.
