How does that work? How is iron absorbed in our gut or in our body?

Alannah McKayGUEST
Again, iron's a little bit unique because we don't regulate iron in a way that is due to the losses.

Alannah McKayGUEST
So what I mean by that is many nutrients, if you'll, or even if you think of sodium, when you lose sodium, you'll start to absorb more sodium and you may change how you lose it and how you sweat sodium out based on how your body needs it.

Alannah McKayGUEST
So there's a mechanism where it can stop being sweated out or things can change on the loss side of things to prevent deficiencies occurring.

Alannah McKayGUEST
So iron losses are completely unregulated and they just occur as they want to occur.
