Hailing Island so when we moved back to the UK we were at Hailing Island and as I'm sure you know Hailing Island is just a melting pot a lot like Lorient for loads of great sailors you know you're there sailing and you've got Back in those days, it was people like pioneers as well, you know, like Simon Payne in the moth and Mike Lennon and then multiple Olympic champions that are around the club and great amateur sailors, Jeff Caiff, Nick Craig, and you meet all these guys.

And I was really lucky to sail with them, but also to sail with people from my own generation.

You know, a big, someone I spent a lot of time sailing with is James Peters.

He went on to do 49ers and really good sailing, Ben Saxon.

So kind of in a nice little group of really passionate sailors and it just rubbed off and I was able to spend a lot of time, kind of then move through the dinghy classes and small keelboat classes with some pretty good success across the range.

What's the attraction? What keeps you coming back for more of that? What is the attraction?

Just trying to get people's stories out there and explain to everybody what What, where were you at? Where are you at now? What happened? How did you get there? Like what's the whole story, right? So if you don't care, start with your name and then kind of give me an overview of your story.

My name's Allen Roberts, 58 years old.

I was born in Michigan, moved down here Neither one of my parents ever drank or used.

My mom did smoke cigarettes, my dad didn't like it, but that's a whole nother thing.

I grew up in a little town in Norse.

I think I started drinking at about age 14 and it was just kind of the good old boys of what we did.

It really wasn't a crime of crime.

And then about how old were you in that?

I went down to get some water, and he was hanging out at a shelter with a, um, couple that lived in Ireland.

The gentleman was from South Africa, and the, the woman, young woman was from Massachusetts.

And they had, uh, really taken him under their wings a bit.

But as I come back up from the water, they announced to me that he had his trail name.
