Alan Green

Um, Brian Butler was there.

Um, Alan Green was doing commentary, although obviously not a presence in the sports room.

Um, people like Ian Darke I think were just about to move.

Uh, but he was there.

I, I'm the same as you.

So look at, uh, you know, w- when we started out in 5 Live, it was always Mike Ingham and Alan Green would've done all the England games and, and, and almost exclusively through that.

And I know, John, you would've done the occasional one.

But yes, there was one single solitary time where I did, uh, an England senior men's international from Wembley.

Belfast lad.

Alan Green.

Alan Green.

And I went for Alan Green, and he said, it's not me.

He said, I think you may be looking for a certain George Hamilton.

So it was years later, wasn't it? We were having a drink somewhere.

I did say they were asking me in an interview who my favourite commentators were.

What do I think of Alan Green? What do I think of Jonathan Agnew? Whatever.

And I just had an answer because I love radio so much.

I wasn't expecting it to particularly be the career that I had.
