On some level, though, I always think of Eric Boghossian's play Talk Radio, which was really like a proto-reflection on podcasts.

At that time, it was a reflection on shock jocks, and it was based on Alan Burke, who was kind of the original screaming-at-a-mic guy, and he got assassinated outside of his studio by nonsense.

but the climax of the play is this next generation just completely emotionally flat heavy metal kid comes up to the studio and he sees what's going to replace him the way he had replaced the old drive time guy with the honking horns sound effects this guy was the next stage In some way, yeah, it feels like, okay, we took media in a different place.

But in the end, did it wind up being a better place when you look where it's going? Now, I wouldn't entirely say no to that.
