Aladdin

And Frozen and-

... you know, even Aladdin-

What was gonna come

...

play

uh no she's seen I bought her tickets to see Aladdin and I think maybe a couple other things but Aladdin is pretty extraordinary production they have a really good magic carpet scene that's seamless but this this was like on another level That's cool.

That's good.

It's good to introduce the kids to stuff like that.

It's really mind-blowing the way theater magic works.

I've had Sonya Balsara, who plays Jasmine in Aladdin on Broadway.

She is the nicest person ever.

She said that she has sat in the audience to watch the person that steps in for her.

Sorry, the applause is great, but being the backstage shenanigans with your cast members or crew or if somebody's making a joke or you do the same thing and you run off stage for one second and you run back on, that's what makes it...

That's my favorite part of theater.

That's one of my favorite things talking to the cast of Aladdin and Lion King that I get to talk to a lot.

And they have so many cool stories about the backstage shenanigans, you know.

So, uh, so a- again, that's enough to get the Potter fans to come back.

What Disney seems to be doing and what'll be kind of interesting going forward here is, uh, this is the first time they've had a celebrity of sorts playing the Genie in Aladdin.

And what's especially interesting about, uh, them going with Sherie Shepherd to play the Genie in Aladdin, and she'll be starting in the middle of October, uh, is that, uh, this is the first time the character's been played as a female.

So, uh, and it's just gonna be interesting to see how that changes the, the dynamic of the show, the relationship between the Genie and Aladdin.

Uh, but it, it's an interesting choice.

And by the way, limited run.

Question two.

In the Broadway musical Aladdin, what magical object does Aladdin ride through the sky on during the song A Whole New World? And the answer is a magic carpet.

Question three.

In Frozen, Elsa uses her magical powers to build a castle made entirely of what? And the answer is ice.

And back up, and I'm just still sitting there.

Anyway, Sherie Shepherd is the new Genie, and I think that, and I hope that this begins a, a trend of getting celebrities, uh-

To be Genie?

... as the Genie.

Yes.

Well, speaking of Broadway-

Yeah.

Oh, my goodness.

The good news just keeps on coming for my friend Sherie Shepherd.

She's returning to Broadway to star as the Genie in Disney's musical Aladdin.

Her limited run at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City begins October 16th and continues through January 3rd, 2027.
