Alabama Forestry Commission

And on to forestry.

The Alabama Forestry Commission is launching an online burn permitting system for certified prescribed burn managers.

The updated portal will streamline the permitting process while providing applicants fire weather information and email notifications about burn restrictions.

Users will create a profile, complete two-step verification, and enter or geolocate their prescribed burn location to receive a permit number.

While permits may still be obtained by phone, Alabama Forestry Commission plans to phase out phone-issued permits within the next twelve months.

And across the board, producers are urged to watch for pasture mealybug.

Pasture mealybug has been confirmed in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas, placing it on Alabama's doorstep and making early detection a priority for producers.
