Al-Qahhar

Self-sufficient, sustains others, and He's everlasting.

So today's two names, bi-idhnillah Azzawajal, are Al-Qahiru, Al-Qahhar.

They are from the same root.

Al-Qahir and Al-Qahhar.

Al-Qahhar is just an exaggerated form from Al-Qahir.

Okay? So what do they mean? So linguistically, so if I'm dealing with Al-Qahir and Al-Qahhar, I'm really basically dealing with the same root.

So Al-Jawhari said, "Qaharahu ghallabah." That's easy.

It says if you say Qaharahu, you say He defeated him, overpowered him.

Here it came with Al.

There is no Ilah, there is nothing deserving of worship except Allah Al Wahid, the one Al Qahhar.

Also, I always want you to think, and I've said this before, always think.

that there are two things for any name that is mentioned in an ayah, there are two things you should always think about.

Not from Jibreel Alayhi Salaam, not from the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam, let alone from those people that they call upon as rivals with Allah.

Nobody is gonna save you on that day because Allah Azzawajal is Wahid.

And likewise, Al Qahhar, because on that day, all of them are subjugated.

They are subjugated in this world, but they just don't recognize it.

Here it came with Al.

that there are two things for any name that is mentioned in an ayah, there are two things you should always think about.

So the beauty, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim, Al-Ghafur, Al-Wadud, all this.

The might, Al-Aziz, Al-Qahhar, Al-Jabbar.

And it's very int-- It's not interesting as...

I mean it's not, not ca-- not surprisingly that Ar-Rahman or Ar-Rahim comes with At-Tawwab.

Al-Wahid being one of the names of Allah, um, it's mentioned in the Quran seven times, and this is another, I think, very beautiful, uh, point here in terms of the way Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala delivered or revealed, I should say, these two attributes, Al-Ahad and Al-Wahid.

So it's mentioned in the Quran seven times, Al-Wahid, but whenever it appears in all seven of those times, it's paired with Al-Qahhar.

Al-Wahidul Qahhar, The All-Subduing.

And the pairing here, Al-Wahidul Qahhar, is deeply significant.

Al-Wahid affirms oneness, obviously, The One, while Al-Qahhar negates any possibility of a rival or partner because there can only be one who subdues all.

The word Al-Qahhar is like The All-Subduing, the one who subjugates all.

And when you are Al-Qahhar, it means there's no one else that is subduing or subjugating.

You don't have a rival.

As Allah mentions in another Surah, Surah Al-Ghafir, Allah will say, لِمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمُ Who does kingdom belong to today? أَيْنَ الْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ أَيْنَ الْجَبَابِرَ Where are the مُلوك الدُّنْيَا؟ The kings of this world, where are the arrogant? Where are the sitting yahoos and the shayateen and the fir'auns? Where are they today? لِمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمِ Allah will say, who does kingdom belong to today? And Allah will respond to Himself and He will say, لِلَّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ It is, it belongs to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala alone.

الْوَاحِدِ Al-Qahar, the Supreme.

And he will answer himself, Subhanahu wa ta'ala.

Allah continues to show the insignificance of the creation and who He is, Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
