Al-Insan

On Jawm al-Jum'ah, Friday, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the sunnah is, he would recite in the first rak'ah, Surah As-Sajdah.

And in the second rak'ah, on Jum'ah, in Fajr, this is the Sunnah, he would recite Surah Al-Insan.

This is the Sunnah, so let us try and follow it, insha'Allah.

If the Muslims were facing a crisis or a calamity, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ raises his hands in supplication, in du'a, in the second unit of the prayer, of the fajr, and he was beseeching Allah's help in a qunoot du'a.

Also, we'll mention another hadith.

At the end of Surah Al-Insan, or it's not in Surah Al-Insan, I can't remember the ayah, but Allah mentions that the kuffar, they try to make you fall بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ

with their eyes.

وَإِن يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ

That you do things strictly because it's right, because it's virtuous.

In Surah 76, verse 9, it says, We have this example.

It says, we feed you.

So these are people who are being fed by believers.

He says that one day his father sat him down and he said that whenever you read the verse in the Quran that has a call in it that says, يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُرُ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ أَمَنُوا The Quran is talking to you.

So it's very true that the answer is the revelation has been directed for al-insan, but al-insan is not an abstract concept, it's you.

The Quran is talking to you, you personally sitting here in this room.

The moment you understand this perspective, the moment you understand that you are the intended audience, that Allah is packaging a message to send it with you with your name on it, what attitude should you have? I think there is one wrong attitude, which is to tell Allah, take a number, I'm sorry, I'm a little busy now.

So I'll tell you when I'm free so you can send a message.

That would not be a good idea.

So the centrality of al-insan, the centrality of the human into this venture of the Quran is going to be extraordinarily important.

So this is why a surah is going to be named after you, sort al-insan.

Thaniyan, al-wasool ila madinati adam al-wasool.

Rajul al-amni fil matari yandharu ila haqeebati almasno'ati min jildi al-insan.

Wal-khawfu yalma'uka ainaikil adhkuruhuma jayidan.

The details that sadness turned into memories are hidden in a secret pocket in the bag like a package of cookies.

So that is, that does not, uh, that does not make you fulfill, uh, taqwa.

So it says that, um, in Surah Al-Insan, Innama nut'imkum liwajhillah, la narudu minkum jazaan wala shukura.

That we only feed you for the face of God.

We feed you just for the pleasure of God.

So he said, "Why are you just eating dates? You know, you should be eating the meat and, and bread." They said, "No, this is what our Rasul Alaih Salatu Wasallam has taught us." Because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said, "The sign of the believers is that they give food to the, uh, to the yatimawa yasira, uh, yatimawa asira.

The miskinan wa yatiman wa asira in Surah Al-Insaan.

Uh, that they give food, they feed the miskin, [coughs] the poor, the orphan, and the prisoner.

So we feed you." The famous-- and then so as a result of this, these people become Muslim.
