Akane Shiga

Good luck to Tia, just maybe not too much luck against us.

Akane Shiga isn't new to the PWHL, but she's new to Detroit and she's back after a year away from the league.

Shiga, who hails from Obihiro, Japan, was the first Japanese player in PWHL history.

She joined Ottawa for the league's inaugural season as its youngest player.

No, absolutely.

I think I would love to see more and more of that kind of support, especially in the countries that the athletes are from, to gain more popularity.

I think of when Akane Shiga, who was playing for Ottawa for one season, you know when she came here it would have been nice to hear about like hey you've got this um japanese hockey player who's playing in canada the biggest stage for hockey um like it would have been great to see some japanese brands kind of pick up of course you know being in north america i'm not really aware there might have been um one or two brands that helped support her but um You know, I again would love to see more of that.

I think that's a great point that you bring up.
